At Carolina Forest Pharmacy, located in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, we care about your health. As a locally owned pharmacy, we strive to serve our community in any way that we can. During the last year, we have been fortunate enough to obtain and provide both COVID-19 tests and vaccinations.
COVID-19 Rapid Antigen Test
COVID-19 is a disease caused by the virus, SARs-COV-2 or coronavirus.
While symptoms vary greatly between each individual some common symptoms are: sore throat, cough, fever, chest pain, shortness of breath, fatigue, muscle aches, new headaches, congestion, nausea or vomiting, and/or diarrhea. If you have been exposed to COVID-19 or have these symptoms, it is recommended you get tested.

We use the CareSmart Antigen test. This test uses a sample collected with a nasal swab to identify any active infection of COVID-19. This can not detect previous infections.
Upon arrival, our staff will be ready in their PPE to collect the sample. Once the sample is collected we ask that you head home. We will email the results and an invoice to you by the end of the day. You may submit the invoice to your health insurance to attempt reimbursement.

Vaccine & Booster Information
FDA and the CDC authorized booster shots of Moderna, Johnson & Johnson and Pfizer Covid-19 vaccines. Our pharmacy carries both Johnson and Johnson as well as Pfizer vaccine .

Studies show that after getting vaccinated against COVID-19, protection against the virus may decrease over time and be less able to protect against the Delta variant. Although COVID-19 vaccination for adults aged 65 years and older remains effective in preventing severe disease, recent data suggest vaccination is less effective at preventing infection or milder illness with symptoms. Emerging evidence also shows that among healthcare and other front line workers, vaccine effectiveness against COVID-19 infections is decreasing over time. This lower effectiveness is likely due to the combination of decreasing protection as time passes since getting vaccinated (e.g., waning immunity) as well as the greater infectiousness of the Delta variant.

Data from a small clinical trial show that a Pfizer-BioNTech booster shot increased the immune response in trial participants who finished their primary series 6 months earlier. With an increased immune response, people should have improved protection against COVID-19, including the Delta variant.

​The Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 is a two shot regimen. After your initial shot, a 2nd appointment will be scheduled for 3 weeks later. If you are unable to attend your second appointment please contact us 24 hours prior to your scheduled time.​
The Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 is the only Covid vaccine approved for children and young adults from age 12 to 18.

​Booster doses
Both FDA and CDC have given the nod for Americans aged 50 years and up to receive a second booster dose of COVID-19 vaccine from Moderna or Pfizer-BioNTech. Older adults should wait at least 4 months after receiving an initial booster before getting a fourth dose, and the brand of vaccine they received earlier is not a factor. The extra layer of protection is "especially important for those 65 and older and those 50 and older with underlying medical conditions that increase their risk for severe disease from COVID-19 as they are the most likely to benefit from receiving an additional booster dose at this time,"
